Sam Pomerantz, a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association, is a Charlotte-based actor, singer-songwriter, and musician. A summa cum laude graduate of UNC Charlotte, Sam majored in Theatre and Musical Theatre, participating in various productions. His educational theatre credits include performances in the ensemble for Pippin and directing Gather, a collection of student-written works. Additionally, Sam adapted See Rock City & Other Destinations into a virtual musical, serving as video editor and performer.
Through masterclasses with Broadway professionals, Sam continued to develop skills in acting, singing, and performance techniques. His instructors have included Ato Blankson-Wood [Slave Play (Tony nominee), Cabaret], Phillip Boykin (Hadestown, Porgy and Bess), Damon Daunno [Oklahoma! (Tony nominee), The Band’s Visit], Grace McLean (Suffs; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812), Ali Stroker [Oklahoma! (Tony winner)], and Kevin Metzger-Timson (Casting Director, Tara Rubin Casting).
As a competitor, Sam advanced to the national level of the National Association for Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition in the Music Theater category. In 2022, he was the guest artist for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra’s annual Holiday Pops concert, performing original works by Emmy-winning composer Gary Fry.
In addition to theatre, Sam is a singer-songwriter and musician. His debut EP, ‘Escape,’ was released in February 2022. Since 2020, Sam has partnered with Global Citizen’s HeadCount organization, a non-partisan group promoting voter registration and civic engagement through music events. His recent performances include the 2022 iVoted Festival virtual concert, and the 2023 Taste of Charlotte Festival, where he opened for American Idol winner Phillip Phillips.
